Using the D-to-Z color grading system used by the industry, diamonds in the typical color range are described as colorless to pale yellow. On the other hand, fancy color diamonds are diamonds with yellow and brown tones that show color outside of the Z range, or any other hue when seen face-up.

All the colors of the rainbow are present in these rare examples, but the most significant ones are pink, red, green, blue, and pink.

With fancy color diamonds, the strength and purity of the color usually increase in value. Big, brilliant-colored diamonds are highly precious and incredibly rare.

But instead of being vibrant and bold, a lot of beautiful diamond colors are subdued.
